Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 cups California walnuts
  • 1 tablespoon za’atar
  • 2 teaspoons sumac
  • 1 teaspoon garlic salt, or to taste
  • 1 teaspoon sugar

Preparation

  1. Melt butter in a large skillet set over medium heat. Add walnuts and toss well to coat with butter. Cook, stirring frequently, for 5 minutes to toast.
  2. Sprinkle with seasonings and reduce heat slightly. Cook and stir for 5 minutes more or until golden and fragrant.
  3. Set aside and let cool, stirring occasionally. Transfer to an airtight container until ready to serve.
