California Walnut Ramadan Pide

INGREDIENTS

  • 1.5 cups ground California walnuts
  • 5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2.5 cups warm water
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 15 grams fresh yeast or 2 tablespoons dry yeast
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 2 tablespoons sugar

For the Healing Sauce

  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 tea glasses of water
  • 1 tablespoon molasses
  • nigella seeds and sesame seeds

PREPARATION

  1. Add flour, sugar, salt, and yeast to a bowl. Add warm water, then add milk and mix.
  2. Knead the dough, then shape it into pide and place it on a baking tray lined with parchment paper. Let the dough rest for half an hour.
  3. For the sauce, mix 2 tablespoons of flour, 2 teaspoons of water, and 1 tablespoon of molasses.
  4. Spread this sauce over the rested dough, then sprinkle ground California walnuts on top. Add nigella seeds and sesame seeds.
  5. Bake in a preheated oven at 200°C for 30 minutes.
  6. Once done, transfer to a serving plate and serve. Enjoy!
